PERSONAL CONNECTION - I’ve known Ian for almost 30 years…. We originally met with a group of college friends from Manhattan Beach at the Grateful Dead concert in May of 1995 at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. Dave Mathews Band opened. It was hot, we camped at Lake Mead in between shows and it was an experience of a lifetime. He’s a legendary friend, great artist, has an amazing sense for irony and I’m very grateful for his contribution to the 2024 Surf Art Calendar.
ARTIST BIO - Ian Freshman is a cartoonist, graphic designer and Manhattan Beach native with a knack for poking fun at some of the more humorous (and ridiculous) aspects of life in the South Bay. Ian is the creator of The Bubble comic on Instagram and Facebook where he posts his South Bay-inspired cartoons.
