“Playa Colorado Rainbow”

STORY BEHIND THE IMAGE
My family and I have been traveling to playa Colorado, Nicaragua for about 12 years. The waves at this beach are extremely good and the sunsets sometimes are even better. The background behind this photo: I was in the middle of a great surf session in the evening and a little rain squall passed through just before sunset. At the tail end of the rain I saw a rainbow starting to form over the south end of the beach. I thought to myself, this would make an amazing photo. I caught a wave in and ran to where my phone was stashed. I grabbed my phone and walked down the beach a little bit and captured this image. After I took the photo I went back in the water and caught a few more waves and watched the sun go down while the rainbow drifted off into the night.
PERSONAL CONNECTION
We all wanted to be Stantons! Brian and his wife Jenni are the coolest people who seem to have figured it out early. Surf, travel, beautiful house in Encinitas and tons of friends…. they have it all. It’s not without design, because in turn they are the most generous, humble, supportive family that I know. I originally met Brian at Cal Poly SLO, where we were SAE fraternity brothers together and he had just decided to leave behind his professional surfing career to go to school alongside his soon be wife Jenni. Over the years, I’ve watched them build a life together, support their kids (Maddie who’s going to be the next female pro surf champion and Tyler who’s equally a good surfer and soccer player), while staying true to their Encinitas roots.
What I really liked about this photo is that it reminds me of the trip to Playa Colorado we took together with a group of our college friends back in 2013 and all of the great waves and laughs that were shared amongst the crew. I am grateful to call him a close friend and that he’s shared a little slice of paradise with us. Check out IG @stantonfamilyenc to follow along their adventures.

Brian Stanton is a 47-year-old Encinitas native. His wife Jenni Stanton and two daughters Maddie and Tyler love the ocean and have a passion to travel. My family has traveled to destinations such as Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Hawaii, Indonesia, Peru, Brazil and South Africa. We hope to continue traveling and following our passion for the ocean. Brian is an owner of a commercial construction company in San Diego California. Bycor General Contractors has approximately 125 employees and has been in business for over 40 years. The majority of our business is based in San Diego County.
