"What Lies Ahead II”
Inspiration: From the artist - My art practice has been led by the richness of a balanced integration of opposites... imparting stillness through movement and vibration, utilizing linear components to create textural rawness, and evoking a sense of fragility and impermanence while remaining grounded. My latest work encapsulates this duality by merging Japanese paper, fire and beeswax resulting in a deeper understanding of the complementary nature of structure and spontaneity using mindful repetition and universal forms to promote a visceral experience.
Personal Connection: I discovered Sabrina's work at the El Segundo Art Walk in 2023 and have been a big fan of her work ever since. Grateful to have her featured in the 2024 Surf Art Calendar.
Bio: Sabrina Armitage is a Los Angeles based abstract artist, working in the medium of encaustics (pigmented beeswax and resin). Themes of resilience and adaptability weave through her art reflecting her background in Psychology and Clinical Social Work. She studied Fine Art at Otis College of Art and Design.
