“Mexico”
By: Emilie Rogondino
STORY BEHIND THE IMAGE
The story behind this image is that Emilie was fortunate to travel to a fancy resort outside of Sayulita, Mexico with her friend Gianna and her mom Cheryl. The ultimate girls trip of laying by the pool, exploring the beaches and of course dinner on the sand.
PERSONAL CONNECTION
This past year has flown by! As my daughter Emilie gets older, I’m finding that she spends more time with her friends and less time with her family, but that’s all part of growing up. Her soccer career has flourished with her club team Beach FC ECRL and she’s playing with the Mira Costa High School team again this season. In addition, she was fortunate to play soccer in Norway this summer with a team comprised of both US and Spanish players in the Norway Cup, as part of Team Inspire. She has been taking her school work seriously, joining the Model United Nations Club at MCHS, learning the skill of public speaking, and how to debate, which she had years of practice doing as a kid. The next big step for her is to get her driver’s license, which both excites and scares me to death. Fortunately, she’s a good driver and I’m curious to see how she uses this new found independence. Overall, I am proud of her for being a good student, competitive athlete and look forward to what the next year will bring.
ARTIST BIO
Emilie Rogondino is a soon to be 16-year-old girl (12/22) who loves to play soccer for her club team Beach FC, hang out with friends, and spend time at the beach or on the slopes. She’s in the 10th Grade at Mira Costa High School. She also enjoys travel, Model UN, and taking photos of her daily adventures. If not in class or on the soccer field, Emilie can be found exploring the town with her friends who are all now driving!
